How data is used
Subruu only captures the current tab's audio when the user actively starts subtitles. Depending on the selected speech-recognition engine, audio is sent directly to that STT service; the Mini realtime engine connects directly to Salad using a short-lived authorization ticket, without relaying audio through Google Cloud Run. Cloud Run handles sign-in authorization, translated text, usage, and billing events.
What is stored
When the subtitle service is on, only the minimum usage statistics and session metadata are stored, used to compute available credits and display purchase history. No-registration trials create a Firebase anonymous UID and use irreversible HMAC hashes of an installation key and network IP to prevent duplicate claims; the backend does not store the raw installation key or raw IP. The member referral feature stores referral codes, referrer UID, referee UID/email, reward amounts, and crediting records, used to grant credits and support account reviews.
Third-party services
The service uses Firebase Auth, Firebase/Firestore, Google Cloud Run, SaladCloud Nemotron STT, ElevenLabs STT, LLM providers, and the ECPay payment gateway. Long-lived API keys are kept only in the controlled backend or Secret Manager; the Chrome extension receives only time-limited connection tickets.
No data sales
We do not sell user data, do not build advertising profiles from subtitle content, and do not provide transcripts to data brokers.
Data deletion
To delete account data, contact the service administrator from your member email and provide your Firebase UID or sign-in email. Trial users can identify their anonymous status in the extension account section and contact the administrator for deletion assistance.
Contact
The administrator handles data deletion, billing, and privacy requests through the member-center announcements or the contact channels listed on the product page.
